Established in 2024, The Free To Live Non-Profit Foundation is committed to ensuring that cows destined for slaughter can instead live out their lives in a safe, peaceful, and natural environment, free from the threat of harm.

Our unique program allows us to keep sponsored animals on rangeland ensuring they live in environments that allow for natural behaviors and social interactions. 

Rescuing Cows Bound for Slaughter

Preventing Transport To Auction

Young cows are often taken away from their mothers, transported from  ranches where they were born, sold at livestock auctions, and then transported either to feed lots where they are kept in crowded, unnatural conditions or taken straight to slaughterhouses where they face a grim fate. These auctions are bustling markets where animals are sold by the pound, frequently without sensitivity for their fear or their welfare. 

Compassionate Intervention

Once sold, cows endure stressful and sometimes inhumane transport conditions to slaughterhouses, where they are processed for meat. This journey can be both physically and emotionally taxing for the animals. We intervene in this cycle by rescuing cows before the cycle starts, allowing them to stay on the ranches where they were born, with their  herd families, where they can live out their lives in peace.

Natural Living

Our cows live together in herds, where they form social bonds and experience the companionship that is natural to them. They roam freely across rolling hills, drink from natural streams, and enjoy the full range of weather conditions, thriving in as natural a setting as possible. Our mission is to provide each cow with safe haven where they can live a life free from the fear and stress of the livestock industry.

Cows Saving Human Lives

Did you know that cows play a critical role in human health, with approximately 200,000 human lives saved each year from bovine aortic heart valve replacements? It's true. These life-saving procedures underscore the profound impact cows can have on human well-being.
